FINE Gathering In Ottawa and National Prayer Breakfast

Our Executive Director, Dr. Topping and Development head, Victor Carpay, were both invited to attend the ‘Friends in the New Evangelization’ (FINE) Gathering, coordinated by Catholic Christian Outreach and other partners, and afterwards the National Prayer Breakfast by the invitation of newly elected Member of Parliament from Calgary Heritage, Shuv Majumbar. 

The FINE Gathering is a one-of-a-kind meeting of leaders of various dioceses, communities, ministries and initiatives in Canada dedicated to aspects of the New Evangelization. 

During the brief two-day window, we were encouraged by various other ministries such as CCO, Alpha Ministries Canada, The Servants of the Cross in Ottawa, We are Proclaim, Heroic Men, Face to Face Ministries, and  Our Lady Seat of Wisdom, among others. Each ministry, initiative, think tank, or institute like ours has a mission that participates in the work of evangelization throughout Canada in some capacity. 

We also had the opportunity to share and discuss our vision with various Bishops in Canada, including Archbishop Marcel Damphousse, Archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall, who hosted the FINE Gathering at the Notre Dame Cathedral.

The gathering concluded with the National Prayer Breakfast in Ottawa. This served as a wonderful occasion to meet various political figures of faith. Afterwards, we also attended a CARDUS Conference on the persecutions of Christians in Nigeria. 

Dr. Topping and Mr. Carpay were invited to sit with MP Majumdar, who is recognized for his work promoting religious freedom. Dr. Topping and Mr. Carpay spent time focusing on how to equip Christians to renew culture with Pastor Ray Matheson and Pastor Sean Shitta-Bey. 

We are thankful for the encouragement from this trip, the new people who now know of our Institute, the doors opened to future collaboration, and the excitement for our programs.
